Lolita Nelson

Lolita (Melba Buzon) Nelson born September 4, 1946 and went home to be with her Lord December 2, 2018 surrounded by her family at home in Plainwell, Michigan. Melba met her shipmate for life (Clovis) while he was stationed in her homeland of the Philippines in 1971. They married in 1972 and celebrated 46 years of marriage including a very dear to her heart surprise vow renewal for their 44th anniversary. Melba was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Father & Brother all of the Philippines; and her much cherished Father in Law. Melba is survived by her husband Clovis, Mother in Law Juanita, children Natalie (Will) Bradley, Jennifer (Keith) Kasper and four grandchildren Dominic Annerino, Kai Bradley, Zander and Vivian Kasper who all were the lights of her life. She also leaves behind a large extended family here in the States as well as 3 sisters and family members in the Philippines who will carry her in their hearts forever. In younger years Melba could always be found hard at work on the family blueberry farm, volunteering at her children's school or in her beloved community of Bangor or donating to a multitude of charities. Her values centered around her faith and instilling those values in her children. She was the epitome of kindness and giving to all who knew her. As her life transitioned into retirement she enjoyed playing golf in Florida or riding behind Clovis on his motorcycle. The most recent joys of her life evolved around her grandchildren: babysitting daily, cheering on their many sports achievements, watching dance recitals, preparing them special Filipino foods to try and the most important to her just spending time watching them grow and pursuing their dreams. Melba loved to laugh and the family invites you to share your funniest or most memorable to you story involving Melba in the online guestbook as a cherished memory for her family. Christmas was Melba's favorite time of the year, celebrating her faith and gathering family around her. In lieu of flowers Melba would love that you either donate to Hope Lutheran church or choose this time to gather your loved ones close and celebrate each other in her honor. Melba has chosen cremation: Visitation and funeral service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church (290 12th Street Plainwell, MI 49080) on Saturday December 8, 2018. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm, service at 2 pm immediately followed by refreshments and fellowship
