Lorin Duane Bayles of Kalamazoo MI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 78. Lorin was born in Niles, MI in 1945 to Alden and Ruth (Gassner) Bayles. He graduated from Niles High School in 1963, before receiving an accounting degree at Western Michigan University. A hard worker all of his life, Lorin retired from Kalamazoo Country Club in 2013 after 20+ years of dedicated service.

Lorin absolutely loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was holiday gatherings, birthdays, cookouts, going out to eat or anything in between. He enjoyed meeting up for breakfast to play a game of cribbage with friends, talk sports, politics or to just catch up on how everyone was doing. You could always tell he was in his happy place by the smile on his face. Lorin had a ‘gift to gab’ and was known to become friends with absolute strangers when buying his daily paper at the grocery store or gas station or even while waiting in line at the bank. Lorin enjoyed getting out on the water and taking weekend trips to the U.P.

Lorin was an adoring Husband to Veronica “Roni” (Letrich) Bayles of 35 years, a Loving Father to Laura (Susan) Akles of CA, Carrie Adkins of AZ, Joe (Rhonda) Krumske and Brandee Krumske, all of Kalamazoo. He was a proud Grand-Father to Zachery Pfaff, Peter Warner, Sophie Wagner of AZ, Madison and Samantha Akles of CA, Amber (Ryan) Rackley of Kalamazoo, Joseph Krumske of NC, Melissa Baker of Mattawan as well as a Great-Grandfather to William and Aubrey Rackley

Best Brother to Donald (Elaine) Bayles of Niles, Gary (Darlene) Bayles of FL; a Brother-in-law to Denise Letrich of Kalamazoo; Uncle to Jason (Claudine), Justin (Laurie), Jeremy, Kimberly (Jeff) Blankenship; Great Uncle to Daniel, Timothy, Charles, Westin, Jaden, Tina, Claudine, Melissa all of whom thought the world of him.

Lorin was preceded in death by parents Alden and Ruth Bayles and son Robert Krumske. Dearly loved, Lorin will be extremely missed by ALL who knew him.

In accordance with the family wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Agape Christian Church, 609 Cherokee Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am with a light luncheon following the service.
