Louis Robert Beckman
LAWRENCE - Louis passed away Wednesday evening, April 11, 2012, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
Louis was born Nov. 30, 1930, in St. Joseph. On Jan. 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rose Marie (Bischoff) who survives. Louis and Rose both symbolized their dedication to Jehovah God through water baptism in 1955. That same year he began serving as an Elder in the Paw Paw Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Then in 1976, when the Lawrence Congregation was formed, he continued his service as an Elder there and remained a zealous preacher of the good news until his death. Louie was known by many as a strong spiritual man full of wisdom and kindness. His love for people was evident by his compassion and forgiveness. He always saw the good in people and encouraged all to overlook the shortcomings of others as he would often say "Don't sweat the small stuff."
Despite his many health problems, he kept doing all he could in service to his God having great confidence in Jehovah's promise of a better future. He had a laugh that would fill the room and bring joy to all. He helped and encouraged many through his comments, talks, and the wonderful stories that only "Papa Lou" could tell.
Louie was survived by his children, Deborah, Lou and his wife Debbie, Jason and his wife Wendy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon and his wife Jael, Brienne Gibson and her husband Wes.; a great-grandchild, Stone; and brothers, John, Rick and Denny Megna.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the Paw Paw Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 60755 M-40. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
