Lucynda DeYoung

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucynda Anne DeYoung, affectionately known as Cindy, of Schoolcraft, MI, on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the age of 64. Cindy was born in Kalamazoo, MI, the beloved daughter of H. Donald and Sandra (Misterka) DeYoung.

Cindy was predeceased by her loving mother, Sandra DeYoung, and her grandparents, Harriet and Henry DeYoung, and Esther and Stephen Misterka. She is survived by her devoted father, Don DeYoung, and her siblings: Donald DeYoung (Vickey), Michelle (Scott) Forsberg, and David DeYoung (Teresa). She will also be missed by her aunt, Ann (Dan) Munro, and her cousins, Lori Munro-Rice, Tammy Kriekard, and Dan Munro. Cindy was a proud and loving aunt to her niece, Christina Blankenship, and her nephew, Kyle DeYoung.

In her early life Cindy was a cosmetologist and beautician who found joy in her work. 

Cindy was an animal lover who enjoyed watching birds, squirrels and rabbits in her yard. Cindy’s true passion was dogs. She loved all dogs; from ones she met in passing to the neighborhood dogs she frequently visited. She loved them all. Cindy's heart belonged to her dogs, especially her beloved Beagles, Dottie and Penny, and her recent small mixed breed, Tootsie. Her pets were her world, and she found immense happiness in their companionship.

Cindy cherished her time spent talking with her neighbors, valuing the friendships she made within her community. She was known for her kindness, warmth, and curiosity, making her a treasured friend, a loving daughter, and a devoted sister.

Cindy's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and compassion that will be remembered and cherished by all.
