Margaret Leona Dooley

Margaret Leona Dooley of Vicksburg MI, quietly passed at her home on Friday, September 10, 2021. Margaret (Maggie) was born at Ardmore Hospital, Ferndale, MI on March 10, 1948, the second daughter of Albert and Rosemary Simmons (Webb). Maggie spent her younger years growing up in Royal Oak and Southfield, Michigan, where she ultimately graduated from Southfield High School with honors. She moved into the work world, becoming a lighting consultant at Madison Electric, in Downtown Detroit, where she learned to appreciate the numerous cultures in Detroit at the time, along with all the museums and restaurants. Maggie moved to Chicago on a whim, and while visiting a friend’s family in Litchfield, Illinois, she met her husband Meredith (Dooley) of 40+ years until his death. They had their first of two beautiful daughters, Sara, in Litchfield. Soon after, they returned to the Kalamazoo area for a job for Dooley. Later they had their second daughter, Megan. They lived in the Kalamazoo area, the last twenty-five, being in Vicksburg, MI. Maggie was an avid gardener, cook, refurbishing furniture, and had a beautiful soprano voice which she passed on to her second daughter. She loved books, and the strongest black coffee you can imagine. Maggie is preceded in death by her husband: Meredith (Dooley); parents: Albert and Rosemary Simmons (Webb); and brother: Thomas (Tom). She is survived by her two daughters: Sara Ellen and Megan Alyse, (Willendorf); three grandchildren: Sawyer McKenna, Kendall Anne, Quinn Bailey; three great-grandchildren: Brynlee, Bret, and Easton; two sisters: Patricia (Beatty) Deborah (Glascock); two brothers: Mark and Michael; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, Maggie will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery with her husband. There is no service planned currently. There will be a gathering for memories, laughs, and tears at the home of Sara Dooley. Information to follow.
