Margaret Ellen Sturgis

Margaret Ellen (Hayes) Sturgis of Allegan passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Wings Home, Allegan, Michigan. She was born in Otsego, Michigan on May 17, 1925, the daughter of Willard Hayes and Thelma (Hayes) Wood. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Allegan graduating from Allegan High School. Following graduation she married William Ray Sturgis, Jr., and they were married for 55 years. Margaret enjoyed being a homemaker especially baking and sharing with all her family. Bird-watching brought her much enjoyment especially the hummingbird. She and Bill enjoyed wintering in Texas and later in Apache Junction, Arizona. She loved the desert and hiking the Superstition Mountains. She is survived by her children Dennis (Cheryl) Sturgis; Paul (Linda) Sturgis; Dawn (Jim) Pullen; and Patricia (Donald) Morris, all of Allegan. Nine grandchildren: Michelle Greenway, Kevin Sturgis, Tim Sturgis, Scott Pullen, Derek Pullen, Delora Andrus, Kris Morris, Devyn Morris, Kalynn Hagen, and 15 great-grandchildren: Ryanne Havenaar, Nathan Greenway, Emily Sturgis, Parker Sturgis, Justin Sturgis, Austin Pullen, Jeffrey Pullen, Samantha Pullen, Amaya Pullen, Tyyriss Pullen, Ashlyyn Pullen, Miles Morris-Conley, Kaedence Slater, Cillian Slater, and Brynlee Hagen. She was preceeded in death by her husband, William Sturgis Jr.; her parents, Willard Hayes and Thelma Wood; a grandson, Mika; a brother, Willard Hayes; and several nephews and nieces. Cremation has taken place. Friends may spend time with the family at a Memorial Service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings Home, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
