Marian Haney, 89, passed away Wednesday, December 4th, 2024. Born June 19,1935 to LaRue and Gladys Mudget. She was later blessed with a wonderful step-father, Rich Stuifbergen. She married Leon Haney in 1964.
Marian attended Wayland High School. She proudly spent the majority of her working years as the school secretary of Cooper Elementary. Her smile and kindness will be remembered by many in the community.
Her greatest accomplishment was her children. As a young mother, her resilience shined as she raised her four small children on her own. When she married Leon, her family grew by four daughters, and they would go on to welcome a ninth child of their own.
Marian was a creator at heart who found a way to bring beauty to even the smallest crevice of her home. She was a talented artist, seamstress, and woodworker — and her pieces lovingly adorn the homes of her family and friends. Many will remember her love of music and always humming a tune. If you were lucky, you may have even heard her play the accordion.
She was a long-standing member of Chula Vista Garden Club and fondly talked of her time spent with the friends she made there. Every place she called home she made sure to surround with stunning gardens.
Marian's talent for cooking a homemade meal was undeniable. She knew that food had the power to bring people together, and you would often find her family and friends gathered at her table. From Christmas when she filled homes with tins of cookies to Spring when she hunted mushrooms, every season had a special recipe.
In her retirement, Marian developed a love of golf, and if you stopped by her house, you would find yourself invited to a game of cribbage, dominos, uno, or be searching for puzzle pieces.
Marian is survived by children Cathy (Blair) Bates, Marvin (Sue) Brenner, Roger Brenner, Wayne (Ellen) Haney, Janet (Ron) Cozart, and Norma Hope; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sister, Lucy Young; brother Gary (Elizabeth) Stuifbergen. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee; son, Michael Brenner; daughters, Linda Conklin and Karen Haney; granddaughter Angela Brenner; siblings LuluBelle Bowyer, Clifford Mudget, Goldie Jousma, Dave Mudget, and her parents.
The family wishes to thank Friendship Village for their care of Marian and acknowledge the support of the many friends she made there.
