Marge passed away on Sunday, June 1st with her family by her side. Marge fell in her home after spending a wonderful day with family on Memorial Day attending parades and a family picnic and skyping with her great grandson (Connor) in Wyoming. Marge led a very active life right up to the end of her passing. Marge retired from Kalamazoo Public Schools where she taught Art and History. Always recognized, hugged and admired by many of her former students. She served as an inspiration to many having studied at Oxford College in England and Studied Art in Japan. She traveled the world extensively, quite often accompanied by family members. Marge lived in the Kalamazoo area her entire life, attending the Vine Street Neighborhood Elementary School, Kalamazoo Central and Graduating from Western Michigan University.
Marge was a member of the "Daughters of the American Revolution" Marge loved books, art, history, politics (a true "Roosevelt Democrat") and family. She will be greatly missed by her family and extended family. A mom, grandma and great grandma she is survived by her sons, Mike (Dorothy) of Bradenton Florida, Gary (Olga) of Orinda California her daughters Judy Panse (Harv) of Lawton and Marianne Callaway (Decatur) (8) Grandchildren Mike (Roxie)Hallam of Kalamazoo, Tami Hallam of St Pete Beach Fla, Jeff Hallam of Phoenix Az, Caitlin (Cody) Knapp of Gillette Wyo, Colton Callaway Gillette Wyo, Zach Hallam California Anya Hallam California, Robyn Hallam California and (6) great grandchildren - Gina Hallam, Mackenzie Hallam, Layne Hallam, Zakk Hallam all from Kalamazoo, Miles Hallam from California and the newest member of the family Connor Knapp from Gillette Wyoming. Marge was 91, the only child of Leo Greene and Ethel Harrison Hord Greene. A private graveside memorial and celebration of her life will be held for family and friends gathering later in July.
