Marjorie Louise Hudson

Marjorie Louise (Shrout) Hudson, age 93, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in Kalamazoo, MI. Louise was the oldest of seven children, born to the late William and Anna (Rogers) Shrout in Middletown, Ohio on October 7, 1930. She was a life-long resident of Comstock, graduating with the class of 1949 from Comstock High School.

Louise was a devoted scheduler follower, doing the laundry on Mondays, grocery shopping on Wednesdays, cleaning on Thursdays and having her hair and nails done on Fridays. She strived to keep a neat appearance as well as a tidy house. On Saturdays, you could be guaranteed one of her grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and a hamburger for dinner. Sundays were family days, where she spent all morning in the kitchen preparing Sunday dinner, complete with meat and potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls, iced tea and dessert.

She loved to play cards with family and friends, taking vacations to the family cabin in the UP and chatting on the phone. In her later years, she lived at Heritage Assisted Living and the Upjohn Nursing Home where she rarely missed a Bingo game.

Louise was married to her late husband, Jack Hudson, in 1949 and together they raised 5 children; Jeff (Carla) Hudson of Sebring, Florida, Greg (Cyndi) Hudson, Tim (Rosalie Nelsen) Hudson, Ed (Heather Stewart) Hudson, and Ellen (Dean) Eggleston, all of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Greg and daughter-in-law, Teresa (Greg), 2 brothers and 1 sister. In addition to her 4 remaining children, she is survived by 3 sisters, all of Kalamazoo; Francis Simpson, Mary Scott and Virginia Beardsley, along with many nieces and nephews.

Louise will be laid to rest at Comstock Cemetery with a small graveside service at a later date.
