Marla Kay Kniss-Boss, 70, of Plainwell died unexpectedly in her home on April 24, 2023. She was born in Kalamazoo to the late Marvin and Martha (Henderson) Anson on September 8, 1952.
Marla was one of the few students that attended the North Pine Lake School when it closed. Her Father and Grandmother also attended the same one room schoolhouse. She graduated from Delton-Kellogg High School with the Class of 1970. After high school she attended Kellogg Community College studying Art. Following her education, she began her career that lasted over 40 years at Parker Hannifin Corporation.
She spent her childhood living on Pine Lake #2. Her Summers were filled with swimming, laying in the sun, fishing, catching turtles and boating. She was most definitely the captain of the family pontoon boat growing up. There were many fun memories made and talked about later that happened aboard “the pontoon”.
In 1972 after his return from the Vietnam War she married her High School sweetheart Dannie Kniss. They built a home near the North side of Pine Lake where she lived the remainder of her life. Sadly, he died in a tragic accident in 1989.
Much to her surprise on a blind date she met her future husband and best friend Danny Boss. They enjoyed many Summers and made many friends on Lake Michigan aboard their boat named the Party Down. Later they spent their leisure time at their Cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They made many dreams come true for each other. He has been patiently waiting for her in Heaven since November 2021.
Along with anything art related Marla had many hobbies over the years. One of them was travel. She was willing to make the journey despite any obstacles. Recently she had visited her family in Florida, Arizona and had taken a family trip full of memories to Hawaii.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Miriabel Kniss, Corey & Christine Kniss, her grandsons Daniel and Marc Kniss, a sister Terese LePert and her dog Ollie. Miss Kitty and Elvis the dog are already waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.
An Open House Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on July 8 from 11 AM to 3 PM at Bay Pointe, Gun Lake in the Fireside Banquet Room 11456 Marsh Road, Shelbyville MI 49344. In Marla’s memory the family asks that you call or visit a friend.
