Martha Lynn Bosma

Martha Lynn Bosma was born January 4, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William Vernon and Jean Rose (Felts) Hicks. Martha passed gracefully in her home in Kalamazoo on October 2, 2023, surrounded by loving family including her husband, Gregory Bosma, who she married on December 21, 1979.

Martha graduated from East Lansing High School in 1959, received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Michigan State University in 1962, and studied art at Appalachian State University. Martha taught in Columbia, Missouri, and Jefferson City, Missouri, and for twenty-five years in Gobles, Michigan, before her retirement. Martha was also a talented artist, musician and loving mother and wife, whose creativity, faith and quiet strength were an inspiration to her students, friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory, her sons Scott (Lynne) MacDonald and Bradley (Kaeshi Chai) MacDonald, stepson Andrew Bosma, and grandchildren, Kailey, Kenison and Michael. She is also survived by her siblings, Cynthia (Herb) Hicks-Orth and Russell (Barbara) Hicks.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Martha's life will be scheduled in the near future.
