Mary Jane DeKam

Mary Jane "Tissy" DeKam, of Portage, MI., died peacefully on April 2, 2013. She was born on August 21, 1936, in Scotts, MI, and was preceded by her parents William & Marion Whitehead, & siblings David, William, Harvey, Susan, Barbara & Janet. Survivors include her children Kimberly (Steve) Oswalt, Rodney DeKam, & Rick (Val) DeKam; her grandchildren Joe, Taylor, Kate, Andy & Bill; & her great-grandson, Cadence. Siblings Judy Norman, Kathy Brogan, Chris Russell & John Whitehead, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, survive. Tiss came from a large family (11), which was always the source of many good stories from her childhood. She was an office administrator most of her life and really loved animals. She will be remembered for her quit-wit and an off-color sense of humor. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to Hospice Care of SWMihcigan or hospiceswmi.org.
