Mary Lucinda Reddy

Mary was born November 10, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles and Hannah Reddy. Charles and Hannah preceded her in death as well as two siblings: Sue Reddy Rea and Michael Reddy. Surviving siblings are Anne Dolembo of Michigan City, Patty Reddy and Kathy Reddy White of Edwardsburg, Michigan and Dennis Reddy of South Bend, Indiana. Mary graduated from Nazareth College, Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1971. She taught English and Art for 3 years. She then became a nun with the Sisters of Saint Joseph for 25 years. During that time, she earned a Masters of Arts, Ball State University, 1979. She then went on to earn a Sociology Degree. Among her many achievements, Mary was an American public relations executive. She was awarded the Recipient Leadership Award, United Way, Kalamazoo, 1979-1983, she was Chairman, United Way Drive Nazareth College, 1974-1977. Mary was on the Active Diocese Kalamazoo Communications Advisory Board and the Nazareth College Alumni Board in the 1980’s. Mary was a member of American Association of University Women, Sisters of St. Joseph, Fundraising Institute and Women in Communication. Mary’s passions were being an artist in her early years then, working to help people as a social worker after working in PR. She worked to help the less fortunate until she retired. She made Kalamazoo her home after college and for the rest of her life. Mary’s family and friends will have a celebration of her life on what would have been her 70th birthday, Sunday, November 10.
