Matt died suddenly at home on November 22. He was born to Allen and Lucy (Barnell) Wiley March 14, 1933. Graduated Schoolcraft High School 1952, and MSU 1954. He married Caroline Miller June 26, 1954. He served in the US Army 1954-1956, 15 months in Okinawa, Japan. He maintained a lifelong residence in Schoolcraft, where he farmed for nearly 60 years. Began professional career at Farm Bureau Insurance, worked for and later owned the Ayres Agency in Schoolcraft and Sturgis for 30 years. The family lived in Sturgis from 1976-1990. Active in the community, he served many different posts through the years with the School Board (Schoolcraft), Farm Bureau, Kiwanis (Sturgis), the United Methodist Church (both Schoolcraft and Sturgis), and most recently, the Board of Review. In recent years, he enjoyed marketing for his son's enterprise, Veggies on U and the Wiley Farms brand at Texas Corners Farmers Market. Survived by his wife Caroline, son Kurt (Jeanne), daughters Nadine (Mark), Sandy (Ralph), Michaela (Doug), and Yvonne (Patrick), and 10 grandchildren, brother Allen, sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Norm) French, Judy (Mel) Spresney and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Cross.
