Michael Dennis Concannon

CONCANNON, Michael D Three Rivers Mike Passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 with his family at his side after a long and courageous fight with Lung Cancer. Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Suzanne (Pearson) Concannon, son; David (Johnnine) Concannon, daughter; Cindy (Scott) Penabaker, brother; Dr. Milton (Gail) Concannon and grandchildren; Alex Concannon, Jamie Lee Kline, Jasmine Kline, Maija Penabaker, and Nick Penabaker. Mike has had a lot of support from his brother-in-law, Jack (Eileen) Pearson and his wife's cousin, Russell MaGee. Mike and his family send a special thanks to his clinical trial nurse, Vicki Patterson who became a dear friend and helped the entire family during this long and difficult fight. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Jean (Pauly) as well as his sister; Joan Silo. Mike was born June 21st, 1941 in Chicago. His family moved to Fisher Lake in Three Rivers, Mi. where he attended Three Rivers High School and where he enjoyed playing varsity basketball. Mike graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1959. Mike then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he spent 4 years. Mike and Sue were married after basic training. They spent most of the four years at Kinchloe Air Force Base in the U.P. of Michigan. After leaving the Air Force, Mike enrolled at Western Michigan University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Mike went on to become a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan. Mike worked at the Johnson Corp. in Three Rivers for 17 years before moving to Durametallic in Kalamazoo. Mike spent 17 more years at Durametallic before retiring. Mike enjoyed his work and the people he worked with. He also enjoyed reading westerns, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike was a wonderful person who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In accordance with Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service was held. A celebration of his life will be held at the family cabin in Boyne Falls, Mi the 1st week of August 2013.
