Michael Wayne Woodard

Woodard, Michael W. In July, 1950 I was introduce to the world and to my daddy, Jack and my momma, MaryAnn (Franzone) Woodard. It wasn't very long before my little brother Tom came along to complete our small family. Growing up my brother and I went to Woodward Elementary, Hillside Junior High and finally graduating from Kalamazoo Central in the class of 1968. I met the love of my life and my solemate April Green in 9th grade. We were married in Borgess Chapel on November 6, 1971. Our son Erik Allen was born the following year. I followed in my dad's footsteps, and became an avid baseball player at Central and after school I played in the city league. Later on I went on to play to fast pitch softball. I played with Toppers of Kalamazoo, Gorden Baaer of Allegan, Pearsons of Plainwell and Jack Short, Kalamazoo. We made many friends through all of those teams with many becoming life long friends. Sadly I must leave behind my wife of almost 44 yrs April, our son Erik, our beautiful grandchildren, that we have been blessed with, Lexus Anne, Logan Allen, and Lynzie Anna. My mom MaryAnn, my brother Tom, my Uncle Joe and Aunt Jan and a multitude of cousins. I also want to say goodbye to my Godson and very dear friends, Melvin and April Miller, as well as the rest of the Miller boys, Marvin, Eddie, and Barry for our monthly breakfasts. My golf buddies Tom Tungate (deceased), Jo Golden, David and Sheila Howard, Bernie Betke, Larry Elgersma, Larry Stratton, Toni, Jean and Albert plus many more. I especially want to say to the "Cooper Cafe Counter people and crew " thanks for giving April and I so much love, laughter and joy. To a very kind and wonderful guy whose friendship has meant a great deal to April and I, Dan Little. I will miss all of you. There are so many people who have touched our lives that these are just a few. On September 28 at 12:15 in Borgess hospital, I slipped into the hands of Jesus to be with my family and friends that have gone before me. Good-bye for now my love, my son, my grandbabes, my momma and especially my baby brother Tom, I love you all and we will be together again.
