Schoolcraft
Mildred was born Aug. 15, 1914 to Roy L. Cooley and Bessie (Loomis) Cooley of Bloomingdale, MI. With 2 brothers, Vernon and Everett and 2 sisters, Anna and Amber, she grew up on a farm on "Cooley Hill". The family moved to Kalamazoo when Mildred was in Junior High School. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High in 1932 and in 1937 married Duane Fox. During WWII, Duane served his country in England and other locations as an Engineer. After the war ended he returned home and his job with the Upjohn Co. Mildred retired from the Upjohn Co. along with many other women who worked while husbands, brothers, fathers were on duty abroad. Together Mildred and Duane opened their home to nieces, nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews who loved to spend vacations or even a few hours with Aunt Mildred and Uncle Duane. Following Duane's home- going in 1977, Mildred was asked to help with school children during their lunch room hour at Schoolcraft Elementary. She was grateful to spend time with children again. Mildred celebrated her 100th birthday Aug. 15, 2014 with an open house at the Schoolcraft Assembly of God Church. Mildred died Sept. 18, 2014. She leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, great grandnieces and nephews and 1 great great grandnephew as well as a host of friends of all ages. Visitation will be Sunday Sept. 21, 2014 at the Avink Funeral Home Schoolcraft from 3 to 5pm. A service will be held 2pm Monday Sept. 22, 2014 at the Schoolcraft Assembly of God Church. Memorials may be directed to the Schoolcraft Assembly of God Church or to a charity of choice, especially directed toward the care/education of youth. The family wishes to thank the staff of Park Place Living Center for their care of our Aunt Mildred.
