Millard Owen Gaylor of Kalamazoo, MI while surrounded by family passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the age of 88. He was born on July 4, 1932 in Battle Creek, MI the son of Owen and Gladys (Hodge) Gaylor.
Mid grew up on a farm in Union City with his parents and 5 siblings. He graduated from Union City High School in 1950 before his family relocated to Hastings. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, hunting. Being outdoors was his sanctuary. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and valiantly fought during the Korean War. He retired from General Motors. He was very active in the VFW prior to being diagnosed with dementia. He was a proud American.
Mid was a loving and supportive family man. He married his wife Jane (Reitenour) in July 1973. He and Jane have a blended family with their 6 children Timothy (Deb) Gaylor of Hastings, Kimberly Scott of Bartlett Texas, Todd (Rene) Gaylor of Delton, Kristen (John) Luna of Georgetown Texas, Sherri Gaylor (Jeff Plunkett) of Kalamazoo and Lori (Paul) Stevens of Portage. He also has 11 grandchildren Shane Gaylor, Jeremy (Robyn) Luna, Sam (Amanda) Luna, Danielle (Isaac) Lavariega, Josh Scott, Morgan (Christopher) Slater, Becky Gaylor, Whitney Scott, Brooke Gaylor, Todd Luna and Tyler (Hannah) Stevens. Mid also has 12 great-grandchildren.
Mid's memorial service will be held on Friday May 28, 2021 at the Red Arrow VFW Post 1527 next to the airport in Portage. Memorial service will begin at 11am, however the family welcomes guests from 11am - 1pm. Mid will be layed to rest in a private ceremony at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
