CARNES, Morris Jay 1926-2012 Morris passed away Saturday April 7, 2012 at Laurels of Galesburg. Born in Kalamazoo to Russel E. Carnes and Helen (Garlock) Carnes. Enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served in the Atlantic and Pacific as a radio operator until his honorable discharge in 1946. Was united in marriage to Mary L. Lynn in 1947, enrolled in college soon after and went to work for Michigan Bell and retired at 57 years of age as a supervisor of the toll department. Was active with Junior Achievement, Lions Club and 4-H. Was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He and his wife spent winters in Florida where he flew model airplanes. He also loved to take his family on wonderful trips throughout the U.S. Deceased by 1 sister; Nadean. Surviving are his wife; Mary Lou, daughters; Lynnda Scears Erickson (Jim) of Galesburg, Susan Watson (Jim) of Lucas, TX and Lorie Carnes (Christian) of Plano, TX, 3 grandchildren; Rob, Kelly, and Matt, 5 great grandchildren; Chelsea, Farrah, Nick, Ava and Jake. Memorials may be given to Galesburg Congregational Church where a memorial service will be held Wednesday June 6, 2012 at 4pm. Share a memory or sign the guest book at www.avinkcremation.com
