Nancy Ann Jackson peacefully passed away on July 10th, 2023, at the age of 79, following a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on August 28, 1943, in Monroe, WI, to Frank Russell Jackson and Evelyn Patricia (Rufer) Jackson.
Nancy's cherished childhood was spent in Plainwell, MI, where she resided with her parents and formed close bonds with her beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she considered siblings. After graduating from Plainwell High School in 1961, Nancy embarked on a journey to Chicago, where she attended and successfully graduated from the esteemed Ray-Vogue School of Fashion. During her time at Ray-Vogue, Nancy had the opportunity to visit New York City with her classmates, exploring the world of fashion, indulging in sightseeing, and delighting in a captivating performance by the Radio City Rockettes.
In April of 1965, Nancy married Anthony (Tony) Bird from Knoxville, and together they raised two sons, David and Kevin. Throughout their 12-year marriage, they lived in Tennessee, Ohio, and ultimately settled in Southeast Michigan. Following their divorce, Nancy and her boys returned to Plainwell, where she resided until her passing.
Nancy was a dedicated employee who dedicated 31 years of her life to AT&T Company before retiring. During her leisure time, she found joy in participating in 5K runs, playing golf with like-minded friends who prioritized fun over competition, and tending to the garden of her charming house nestled in the woods. Later in life, Nancy discovered her passion for dancing, initially favoring country styles but eventually embracing the art of ballroom dancing. Her involvement extended beyond mere attendance, as her kind and giving nature led her to actively serve on various boards and committees within the dance community.
Left to cherish Nancy's memory are her two sons, David Bird and Kevin (Theresa) Bird; her granddaughter, Rossi Fifelski; great-grandson, Ryder Williams, and many cherished cousins. Nancy is predeceased by her former husband and father of her children, Tony Bird.
In accordance with Nancy's wishes, she was cremated, and no funeral services will be held. In a private event, her immediate family will scatter her ashes in a location that held deep meaning to her.
