Nellie Mae Pegg

Nellie Pegg, 89, passed away January 15th, 2022 in Kalamazoo after a long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia.

Nellie was born in Otsego, Michigan in 1932 to Ray and Marian Linsley. She grew up in Otsego with five brothers and sisters and graduated from Otsego High School in 1950. She married Kenneth Pegg in 1950 shortly after graduation and was married to him for 50 years before he died in the year 2000.
She was a devoted wife and mother – intelligent, hard-working and resolute. She delighted in her grand-children and great-grandchildren and she loved to sit on the floor and play pick up sticks or Old Maid with them. She was a compulsive walker – even in the last year of her life, walking quickly for 2 or 3 miles around her neighborhood early in the morning. So many memories - hanging upside down on a zip line at age 80 with a huge grin on her face; rooting for the Detroit Tigers; relaxing with a whiskey sour at the end of a long day and if she disagreed with you – it was “Whatever!”.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Ken and all of her siblings. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy (Tim) Baube of Bloomington, MN and Sallie (Skip) Bladen of Kalamazoo. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren Stefan (Heather) Bladen, Shane (Kim) Bladen, Laura (Jay) Olweean, Seth (Stacy) Bladen, Shannon (Aaron) Pitre, Rachel Bomeli, Stacey (Craig) Lancour, Sarah Baube, Deborah Baube, Sam (Morgan) Bladen, and 19 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held in Plainwell on Friday, January 21st from 10am to 11am at Avink McCowen Secord Funeral Home; 120 S. Woodhams St. Plainwell MI 49080.
