Norman W Ampey passed away May 20, 2011 at Borgess/Pipp Hospital in Plainwell, MI. Norm was born January 14, 1929 in Gobles, MI to Elisha and Dorothy. While growing up in Gobles, MI and where he lived most of his life, Norm farmed with his brother Bud before moving to Otsego, MI. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Favorite times for Norm was taking trips with his children up to the U.P. for smelt dipping or having the bats and balls ready in the car and the cooler packed to go Saugatuck Park for the day. Later in life, Norm "Grandpa" loved to have cookouts with the family and his Bench Buddies "Bandit" the cat by his side and "Jazzy" the dog, waiting for the ball to be thrown. He will be sadly missed by many. Surviving are his wife Riva (Jaco); his children Teresa, Don, Norm, Tammy (Jim), Steve (Sue) and Jeffrey (Laura); grandchildren Stacey, Donald, Erin, Jordon, Caston, Juston, Reva, Steven, Paige and Shelby; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia. Preceded in death were Norm's parents and a brother, Jasper aka Bud. Memorial contributions may be made to Allegan County Humane Society in Norm's name. Family and friends will be notified at a later date to celebrate the life of a husband, father and grandfather.
