Orvil Hendricks, age 83, passed away surrounded by his loving family following a battle with cancer.
He was the son of Wayne and Vera Hendricks and was a 1949 graduate of Bloomingdale High School. Orvil proudly served his country, four years in the United States Air Force including two years in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Marge Gackowski in 1954 and resided in Portage working in supervision at several packaging corporations. He enjoyed fishing and exploring northern Michigan, especially Drummond Island. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Surviving is his wife Marge, of 61 years and three children, Pamela (Arno) Yurk, Kimberley Hendricks and Gary Hendricks. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; also two sisters Geraldine Leedy and Effie (Bob) Koehn and a brother Paul.
In respect of his wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest with military honors in a private ceremony at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
