PAMELA JANE ROBERTS (nee SWENSON)
Pamela Jane Roberts (nee Swenson) passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, in Kalamazoo, MI at the age of 77. She was born on January 28, 1947, in Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH to the late Willard Eugene and Helen Mary (nee McKillop) Swenson.
After the family moved to Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Pam attended Monteith Elementary, Brownell Junior High and Grosse Pointe High School, graduating in 1965. She obtained her undergraduate degree in elementary education from Western Michigan University (WMU) and a master’s degree in education from Marygrove College. She taught for 29 years in Vicksburg Schools, including Sunset Lake Elementary School, where she touched countless lives with her kind, caring and creative nature. This following her home child daycare business she started and managed for 5 years.
Pam met her future husband, Robert H Roberts, at WMU, and they were married on July 18, 1970, in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI.
She is survived by loving her sons Brian John Roberts of Kalamazoo, MI and Sean Timothy Roberts and her beloved grandchildren Tyler J Roberts and Sadie Elizabeth Roberts of Royal Oak, MI. She is also survived by her sister Linda (William) Mitchell, her brother Willard (Jane) Swenson and their families.
Upon retiring, she visited with her grandchildren regularly, aways bringing interesting crafts or projects with her to share. She also enjoyed travel around Europe and socializing with many friends and relatives. Pam expressed her creativity, writing and publishing books about relatives and different aspects of her life: including very creative activities with her dear friends from the “Hungry Five” girls club on Newcastle Road in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.
Pam lived happily in a supportive relationship with her son Brian, for the last 10 years of her life in her home in Kalamazoo, MI.
Pam was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all she loved and who loved her in return.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Friday, June 14, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm with sharing at 4:00pm at Avink McCowen & Secord Funeral Home: 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage MI 49002. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the NEA Foundation, a non-profit charity.
May Pam rest in Peace, Love & Harmony, returning to her heavenly Creator.
