Patrick William Connor

CONNOR, Patrick William Pat died peacefully in the presence of family and friends February 26, 2018 following a brief final illness. He was the son of Dorothy and Ernest Connor and lived his entire life near Galesburg. He graduated from Gull Lake Community Schools in the class of 1971. He married Cindy Shupp of Galesburg in 1974 and they had a son William. The couple later divorced. Pat worked at a number of construction and landscaping jobs. He was truly an artisan at laying bricks and his services were avidly sought. He worked with his parents on the farm and took over the Christmas tree business after their deaths. He sold trees the last year of his life. He enjoyed reading, gardening, beekeeping, and loved the wonders of the farm. He made efforts to create habitat for wildlife from fish and frogs to deer and turkeys. His favorites included grouse, owls, wood ducks and wrens that nested under his porch every spring. He is survived by his son Will, five grandchildren, his aunt Esther, brothers Jim, Larry, Tom and Mike, and close friends Cathy and Steve King. He was adopted by a stray cat, Alice, during recent years. No services will be held at his request. Donations can be made to charities of choice or to Kairos Dwelling Home of Kalamazoo.
