Phillip George Stearns

Phillip George Stearns, age 76, of Plainwell, MI passed away on December 5, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hastings, MI on February 21, 1944 the son of George and Beaulah (Reed) Stearns. He graduated from Allegan High School in the class of 1962. In January of 1963 he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart: Carolyn Root. In 1964 he started as an apprentice at Plainwell Paper and worked his way up to being a Master Electrician at Borgess Hospital, he retired in 2010 as the physical Plant Manager. He loved to spend his mornings at the Old Plank Road restaurant. Phillip is preceded in his passing by his parents, siblings: Tom Stearns and Linda VanOrder, and his great-grandson: Andrew Novotny. Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 57 years: Carolyn (Root) Stearns; children: Brian Stearns and Jennifer (Steve) Vist; grandchildren: Ashley, Andrew, Phillip and Alecia; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In accordance with Phillip’s wishes cremation has taken place and no public services will take place at this time.
