Phillip Wilson

Phillip C. Wilson, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully Monday, November 14, 2022, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Phil was born September 28th, 1948 in Fort Sheridan, Illinois, the son of Carl and Mildred (Bowles) Wilson. He was employed as a Service Attendant/Mechanic by Parchment Marathon (now Parchment Service Center) for 5 years followed by Western Electric/Michigan Bell/Ameritech/SBC/AT&T for 27 years before retiring as an Outside Residential/Small Business Installation & Repair Lineman in 1999 due to health/medical reasons.  Phil was an avid photographer who loved camping, watching/attending University of Michigan football games and NASCAR races (particularly following Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr.).

 

Phil is survived by his two children, Katherine (Daryl) Thomas of Parchment and Scott (Susan) Wilson of Portage; five grandchildren, Ashley (Ray) Roberts of Galesburg, Lela Thomas of Parchment, Daryl Jr. (DD) Thomas of Parchment, Dalton Thomas of Kalamazoo and Hannah (Alex) Garcia of Mattawan; ten great grandchildren; siblings, Norman (Donna) Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA, Marjorie (Peter) Kirkpatrick of Salem, MA, and Debra (Charles) Smith of Cooper Twp.; the mother of his children, Marcia (Andrew) Hilton of Davenport, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley (Andrew) Stillman of Kalamazoo and a brother, Kenneth Wilson of Eagle, CO.

 

In accordance with Phil’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be an intimate graveside service at Mt. Everest Cemetery in Kalamazoo in the Spring of 2023.  Phil requests that any memorial donations be directed to the University of Michigan Cancer Center 1500 E Medical Center Dr. Ann Arbor, MI 48109 (who together with his late sister Shirley, saved his life in 1995 via a bone marrow transplant).
