Quentin Anthony Meyers of Vicksburg, MI passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born in St. Paul, MN on September 3, 1936, the son of William and G. Frances (Quinn) Meyers.
He went to elementary school in Chicago, IL. He finished high school during seminary training in Michigan but decided to get married instead of going into the priesthood. In 1960 Quentin married Jan Johnston in Chicago, IL, together they had four children. He found work in Advertising Sales at The Flashes in Allegan, MI for six years before moving on to the General Motors plant in Comstock, MI, and in 1980 he transferred to Hydramatic in Three Rivers, MI. In 1978 Quentin and Jan amicably separated.
On June 25, 1982, Quentin was united in marriage to Eileen (Bernard) Koole at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Kalamazoo, MI. They lived in Kalamazoo until 1995 when they moved to Kline’s Resort of Three Rivers, MI, they resided there together for twenty-two years before moving to Portage, MI.
Quentin will be fondly remembered for being an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kalamazoo and then at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Vicksburg. He enjoyed fishing with Eileen at Kline’s Resort, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved woodworking and made many gifts for his grandchildren. He also loved hosting an annual fish fry, sometimes lovingly referred to as a calorie fest, at the resort for his family and friends.
Quentin is preceded in his passing by his parents; Eileen's daughter: Marilyn (Paul) Grodecki; and siblings: Robert Meyers, Kathleen Cosenza, and Joanne Shelton.
Left to cherish Quentin’s loving memory is his wife of forty years: Eileen (Bernard) (Koole) Meyers; children: Terri (Greg) Ballard, Mark Meyers, Dan (Sarah) Meyers, Elizabeth Meyers; Eileen's children: Marie Koole, Teresa (Dale) DeMerell, Ken (Roxanne) Koole, Ray (Joan) Koole, and Tammy (Bill) Snape; 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with the family’s wishes a time of visiting will be held at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 409 South Main Street, Vicksburg, MI 49097, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held the following day on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 5855 W Ave E, Vicksburg, MI 49097 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating. Quentin will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following the service.
Memorials made in Quentin’s memory may be directed to St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church Conference Of The St. Vincent De Paul Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
