HEANEY, Raymond W. Kalamazoo Passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Rose Arbor with his family by his side. Ray was born in Fairmount, WV, on July 6, 1924, the son of the late John and Ethel (Howell) Heaney. Ray served his country honorably during WWII, as a soldier in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged, he found work in the Kalamazoo area. He remained a life long resident, and was always proud of his community. He was a hard worker who retired from the James River Paper Company. When not working, he enjoyed going for walks, traveling and attending movies. He was a kind and loving man, who was a joy to be around. He leaves a life and legacy that will be missed by those that knew him best. He leaves to cherish his memory, four children, Cyndy (Mark) Hollister, Deb Horrocks, Pat (Jon) Mitchell, and Doug (Jodi) Heaney; nine grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and great friends. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Alzheimer's Association, c/o the funeral home.
