Passed away December 27, 2012 at the age of 81. Dick was born on June 5, 1931, the son of the late John and Anna Boven. After graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1949 he served with the United States Navy and married the love of his life and best friend, Carole Hinckley, in 1954. Together they have traveled many places having fun seeing the sights, visiting friends and family, and creating wonderful memories. Dick worked at Hostess Cake for 25 years, after which he got involved in real estate as a Realtor through the mid-1990s. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carole Boven; his sons Richard Boven and his wife Dawn of Plainwell, Scott Boven and his wife Terrie of Mattawan, his sister-in-law Mary Boven of Kalamazoo, five grandchildren, Bradley, Richard, Daniel, Ashley and Meghan Boven, two great grand children, Roxie and Kaiden and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he loved dearly. Dick was preceded in death by his brother, George and sister, Kathy Shoemaker. A memorial service and visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at North Park Reformed in Kalamazoo. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a Memorial service to follow. Memorials may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center or any charity of your choice.
