Ricky “Rick” Harris Ritter, of Vicksburg passed away at the age of 69, at the Butterfly Oasis Home in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS. Rick was born on January 9, 1955 in Kalamazoo. He was the son of Russell and Virginia (Grimm) Ritter. He lived his whole life in Vicksburg, Michigan. He was a graduate of Vicksburg High School with the Class of 1973. Rick was employed by Graphic Packaging for 35 years until his retirement.
Rick is survived by his two brothers: Reg (Sonja) Ritter, of Homosassa, FL and Rod (Julann) Ritter, of Wakefield, MI; and half sister: Linda Creviston. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews: Eric (Nico) Ritter, Nathan (Lisa) Ritter, Laura (Ray) Spruit, Hope (Nate) Wolverton, Shane Ritter, Autumn (Corey) Berrier, Penny (Tim) Kerkstra, and Christopher (Hannah) Creviston; 13 great nieces and nephews; four great-great nieces and nephews; and several cousins; and Diane Hills, his special friend and caregiver for 16 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Russel in 2004 and Virginia in 2006; his former wife, Sue and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A special thank you to all the caregivers at Butterfly Oasis Residential Home, who were Rick’s family for the past year. They provided the care and love and compassion to him during these difficult months.
A private memorial mass will be held at a later date.
