Robert “Bob” D. Brown Sr., age 75, passed away on October 25, 2020 and will rest eternally with his parents in Negaunee, MI in the Upper Peninsula. Bob was born on March 14, 1945 to George & Marion (Roberts) Brown. Visit with his family and friends on Wednesday, October 28 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McCowen & Secord Funeral Home Marshall-Gren Chapel; 120 S. Woodhams St. in Plainwell.
Bob’s Family includes his children: Sandra (Timothy) Bodner; Tamara (Bill) Artis, Robert “Rob” (Jennifer) Brown Jr.; his grandchildren: Hailee, Alexandra, Noah, Dylan, Lucas, Brad and Brooke; his brother Dennis (Pat) Brown as well as his nieces and nephews: Kim, Nicki, Shawn and Thomas. Bob was proceeded in death by his parents.
Bob graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in the Upper Peninsula in 1963. He attended Northern Michigan University where he played basketball and earned his degree in Education. He received his Master’s degree from Western Michigan University. He taught for 25+ years with the last 16 being at Gobles High School where he coached varsity basketball. He was inducted into the Gobles Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. At that time, he held the record for the most wins as a Varsity Coach in Gobles History. After retirement, Bob continued to remain active in sports as a starting official at the local high school track and cross country meets. He was also known to play a mean game of Cribbage and was a lifelong UofM fan.
