Vicksburg - Robert William Green, 84, died Wednesday 28 December 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice of Kalamazoo, following a long struggle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Joyce Roelofs Green, daughter Cindy and Scott Hammond of Atlanta, son David and Amy of Scotts, grandsons Jacob, Benjamin and Noah Green, and step grandsons Joshua and Christopher Hammond. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Michael James.
Bob was born in Pontiac Michigan, son of Lloyd and Ruth Green. As a youngster he moved to Vicksburg, where he attended a one room school house and later graduated from Vicksburg High School
In 1950 he married Joyce. Together they worked the family farm where he developed his lifelong love of tractors, mechanical devices, animals, carpentry and hunting. After several years Bob left the farm to join Simpson Paper Company, where he worked for 35 years in research and development before retiring in 1991.
Bob enjoyed his retirement and kept busy in his various workshops. He loved to make furniture, carve and fish. He had a passion for being outdoors, and the four seasons of Michigan.
A memorial service with Pastor Rick Tigchon officiating will be held Thursday, 5 January at 2:00pm at Lakeland Reformed Church, Vicksburg. Visitation with the family is offered prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00pm.
