Robert Nelson Raven Sr., age 91, of Lawton, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2017. Robert was born June 20, 1925. He served in the military during World War II from September 30, 1943 - October 12, 1945. During his time there he was wounded twice. He was given an Honorable Discharge and was awarded with a Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with three Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal. Robert worked at the Paper Mill, spent many years as a custodian at Portage Public Schools, plus owned and operated his own window and floor cleaning business. On January 10, 1948 he married Marguerite F. Smith. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Raven, his wife of 56 years, Marguerite Raven, brothers Jack Raven, Jimmy Raven, Dick Raven, sister Virginia Ford, his daughter, Mary Sehy, grandson, Timothy Johnson and granddaughter Lindsey Johnson. Robert is survived by his daughter, Gail Johnson (Marion), his son Robert Raven Jr. (Connie), twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and twenty-six great-great grandchildren. A burial and memorial service for Robert and his wife will be held on May 1, 2017 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Robert was a loved father, grandfather and loyal friend to many. He will forever be missed.
