Robert D. Richey, a beloved member of the Vicksburg community, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 13, 1948, in Vicksburg, MI, Bob's life was filled with service, dedication, and quiet strength.

After completing his education in the Vicksburg Community Schools, Bob answered the call of duty and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1971, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning home, he embarked on a fruitful career beginning at Simpson Paper before working at Pfizer, from which he retired.

Bob was not only dedicated to his job but also to his community. He volunteered with the South County Fire Authority. He took great pride in his role, holding the position of assistant chief for a period of time.

Those who knew Bob often described him as quiet, reserved, and soft-spoken. Bob led a life rich with experiences and simple pleasures. He found joy in watching the Weather Channel, NASCAR and WWF wrestling. An avid sports enthusiast, he cherished moments spent playing softball, bowling, fishing, and engaging in friendly competition while playing cornhole.

Robert D. Richey leaves a legacy of steadfast dedication, service, and quiet strength that will not soon be forgotten. His family, friends, and community will remember him not just for his accomplishments, but for the warmth and kindness he imparted to all. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in Vicksburg.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife: Earlene ‘Lee’ Richey; son: Robert Richey, Jr; stepdaughter: Bonnie Miller; two grandsons: Dustin Robert Sloan and Duane Haring III parents: Russell Richey and Marilyn Baney; and three brothers: Daniel, Terry, and Preston.

He is survived by his daughter: Johnnie (Dustin) Sloan, of MT; stepson: Duane Haring, of Vicksburg; grandchildren: Shawnyll, Tonya, Megan, Kaitlyn, Haven and Ryan; and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister: Diana Brown, of CO; and special friends: Donnie and Linda Yant, of Vicksburg.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 3pm to 5pm at the Vicksburg Main Street Pub, 208 East Prairie Street.
