Vicksburg, MI

Roger Alan Keyes, Sr., of Vicksburg passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 86. Roger was born on August 27, 1938, in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the son of Archie and Verna (Lazar) Keyes. He went through Portage Public Schools. His career started with Brundige in Kalamazoo and finally retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant for over 27 years.

Roger loved the outdoors. From riding motorcycles hill climbing, to stock car racing, archery and hunting and fishing. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed shooting pool when he was younger. He loved to fish on the big lake. Roger had a boat in South Haven named after his young daughter that passed, Julie Ann. He was also known for enjoying time on property in Kalkaska County at Ingersoll Lake. But the thrill of riding a dune buggy at his property at Silver Lake was one of his most favorite times.

Roger was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was always willing to help someone that needed a ride. He carried a big heart, kind soul, and good sense of humor with a very contagious laugh. His great grandchildren affectionately referred to him as “Pop-Pop”.

Roger is preceded in death by wife Joyce; daughter: Julie Ann; and father: Archie Keyes.

He is survived by his two children: Roxanne Norman; Roger (MaryLynn Wilcox) Keyes, II; three grandchildren: Crystal Norman; Veronica Norman; and Monique Wilcox; five great grandchildren: Evan, Ian, Maddox, Mallary, and Faye. He is also survived by his two sisters: Marge Hodgman; and Nancy Keyes; and several nieces and nephews.
