of Portage, MI
Passed away Jan. 8,2014of Alzheimer's. Roly was born Oct. 5, 1935 to Jacob and
Grace Storteboom ofKalatnazoo. Roly was married to the love of his life, Betty Fern,
for 57 years, they have two sons-Gary(Lisa) and Scott(Tammy) and five grandchildren:
Ryan, Katie, Amy, Jacob and Matthew. Roly is survived by two brothers, Norman of
California and Dennis ofKalatnazoo along with many nieces and nephews. Roly retired
from Georgia Pacific- Kalamazoo Paper Co; worked 43 years as an electrician and sludge
plant operator. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing at their cabin
up north. This is where he spent all of his spare time sharing that passion of the outdoors
with family and close friends. You could barely ever find Roly with out his faithful sidekick,
Shadow his dog, she was with him at all times. Roly had the best sense of humor
and absolutely was never at a loss for words. He had stories for days and no matter how
embellished the content of his stories were, they always led to a lesson or at least a huge
laugh. His grandchildren meant the world to Roland and he always prided himself on
making sure he instilled all the knowledge to becoming a successful adult as possible. All
of the lasting memories and laughter we had will be cherished by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. Per his wishes no funeral services willbe conducted and his
