On May 7TH, 2021 Ron left his home here on earth and went "flying high into the sky" only this time without the aid of an Air Force plane. Ron came into this world on August 27th, 1948 the second of four children born to Robert ``Bob" and Anita (Cherven) Morrell. He was happy, and mischievous- you know- a typical little boy. He grew up in Plainwell in a fun loving household, which through the years was a gathering place for his and his families' friends and relatives. After graduating from PHS in 1966 Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. Oh, how he loved flying around in those Air Force planes. When he left the service, he came back home to Plainwell and worked for the city for a number of years. He finished his working years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Kalamazoo. Ron had a terrific sense of humor, inherited from his father and wonderful laugh which served him well as he became Father Christmas during the holidays entertaining little children and adults alike. He delighted in watching their little faces light up when he came into a room. He was also a great fan of NASCAR racing. Ron leaves behind his devoted and loving life partner Jeanette and her son Jesse. His children from a previous marriage Molly (Ryan) Weiber and Larry (Kim) Morrell and their children. His brothers Steve (Shirley) Morrell, Tom (Karen) Morrell and his sister Marcia (David) Dalrymple and special cousin Mickey Abbey along with several nieces and nephews and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents. Ron's ashes will be buried at Fort Custer in Battle Creek with military honors and there will be a celebration of life for family and friends at a later date. While visiting Ronald’s webpage at www.mccowensecord.com please sign the guestbook by lighting a candle, and/or sharing a memory with the family.
