Roxanne Hume, born December 20, 1944, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, peacefully passed away on September 28, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Mart and Helen (Metaljen) Little and shared her childhood with her twin brother, William Little. Roxanne's early years were marked by frequent moves, but her family eventually settled and she attended Kalamazoo Central High School.
In 1962, Roxanne crossed paths with the love of her life, Dale Hume, through mutual friends. Their connection was undeniable, and they exchanged vows on June 25, 1963, in a heartwarming ceremony in Kalamazoo. Together, they welcomed three wonderful children into their lives: Tracy Hume in 1964, David Hume in 1970, and Rhonda Hume in 1974.
Roxanne's professional journey took her on various paths. She began as a dedicated cashier at Thrift Way, where her friendly demeanor brightened the days of countless customers. Later, she joined UpJohn, where she dedicated over 30 years of her life before retiring. Even in her retirement years, Roxanne continued to stay active, working a paper route for the Kalamazoo Gazette in Vicksburg and contributing her warmth and kindness to the community by working at Family Fare in Vicksburg until her health conditions necessitated a pause.
Roxanne had a passion for life and cherished many hobbies. She found solace in the pages of books, nurtured the beauty of her garden, and had a special affinity for horses and wolves. Her love extended to her furry companions, her dogs, who were her constant source of joy. Above all, Roxanne adored her family, especially her grandson, Brenden Lovell.
Roxanne's unwavering support for her family was unmatched. She was a dedicated presence at all of her children's sporting events, no matter the weather. Her love for family gatherings, be it birthdays, holidays, or cookouts, brought everyone closer together. She was the rock that held her family together through thick and thin.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Hume, and her parents, Mart and Helen Little.
She is survived by her loving children, Tracy (Jeffrey) Lovell, David Hume, and Rhonda (James) Gucma, her twin brother William (Judy) Little, her cherished grandson Brenden (Grace) Lovell, and her nieces Amanda and Mistelle.
Roxanne Hume's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. Roxanne's warm smile and kind heart will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the cherished memories she leaves behind.
