Ruth Louise DeVall (Schaeffer)

DEVALL, Ruth L. (Schaeffer) Kalamazoo Passed away Sept. 30, 2012. Ruth was born Aug. 12, 1924 in Ullin, IL, the daughter of Charles and Helen (Jay) Phifer. She was a Kalamazoo area resident since 1945 and was employed with the Brown Co. /James River, from 1954 until 1986. Ruth was also a member of the Parchment United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Schaeffer in 1974; her second husband, Wayne DeVall in 1987; and a sister, Norma Jean Ferguson in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Schaeffer of Parchment; a grandson, Robert Simmerman of Interlochen, Mi; and nieces and a nephew, Sue (Donald Amidon) Schaffer of Portage; Thomas (Leonora) Schaeffer, and Suellen Dye of Phoenix, AZ. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Parchment United Methodist Church at 225 Glendale Blvd. with Pastor Mike Tupper officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
