Samuel Henry Adams passed away on August 8, 2023, while under the care of the Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan, Michigan. He was born in Kalamazoo on June 23,1928, and attended Kalamazoo Central High School. He was a union bricklayer by profession; & at age 18, he enlisted in the Army. After basic training, he was sent to Japan as part of the occupying forces of World War II. Upon returning to the United States, he continued to pursue his bricklaying career.
Surviving is his wife of 74 years, Mary Ann Holman. They met in 1949 and lived in Kalamazoo for several years; then moved to Plainwell in 1957, where they were residing at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Marie; parents Sam Adams and Viola Slesdet; siblings Charlie, Mary, Ruby, Norma, and Violet.
Surviving are his children: Sam Joseph of Enumclaw, WA and Margie Diamon of Schoolcraft; his 5 grandsons: Phillip, Hazzard, Sean, Luke and Joseph; and 9 great-grandchildren: Caeleigh, Autumn, Kiley Jo, Brooke, Liam, Gemma, Charlie, Wiley, and Gunnar; and his many nieces and nephews.
His hobbies were gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling. He was a highly-respected man who was extremely loved and important to his entire family.
Donations in memory of Sam could be sent to Wings Of Hope Hospice, Allegan, Michigan.
The family will be holding a private family graveside service in the near future
