Steve Herman Giesbrecht

Steve Herman "Gizzey" Giesbrecht 61, of Gobles, Michigan passed away Sunday October 6, 2013 at his home comforted by his daughter and best friend, He was born to the late Herman Giesbrecht and Helen (Giesbrecht) Barrett, June 26, 1952, in Plainwell, Michigan. Steve graduated from Plainwell High School in 1971. He married Deborah on February 2, 1987, and together they had a daughter Katie (Giesbrecht) Tolhurst. Steve and Deborah divorced in August of 1994, and got back together as best friends in 2004. Where they both lived until he went home to be with the Lord. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Giesbrecht & Helen Barrett, his step father Ralph Barrett, and his step son Jonathan Walker. Steve is survived by his best friend, Deborah his daughter Katie Tolhurst, three step children, Tracy Gettys, Julia Jay, Victor Walker, (all of Gobles), two son-in-laws, Jonathon Jay (Georgia), and Jason Tolhurst (Gobles), one daughter-in-law Kelly Walker (Gobles). He is also survived by his sister Susie, and a brother-in-law Warren Royston of Hamilton, Michigan. Steve has nine grandchildren, Justin Jay (Alaska), Jacob Gettys (California), Nicholas Gettys, (Gobles), Victoria Jay (Georgia), Jordan Gettys (Gobles), Lauren Gettys (Gobles), Allison Jay (Georgia), Alex and Alivea Walker (Gobles), and 1 great grandson, Michael Jay (Georgia). Steve is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He will always be remembered as somebody that was full of love & laughter, and for his Hulk Hogan impressions. Steve worked for CHS in Hamilton, Michigan before becoming disabled in December of 2011. He also was a volunteer member of the Gobles Pine Grove Fire Dept. His passion was NASCAR Racing and putting together model cars. Memorial services will be held on Saturday the 19th of October from 12pm-4pm at Gobles Pine Grove Fire Department. Please bring a picture and/or a memory of Steve that will be kept in a Memory Book for the family.
