Steven Weinberg

Steven L. Weinberg 04/28/1952 – 05/16/2024

Steve, as most knew him, soared away from our earthly realm on May 16, 2024, at home with his wife and children present after a short illness.

Most recently during the COVID era, he helped Steve and Brenda Schimp keep our community power tools running at the Vicksburg Hardware store. He was known as a Jack of all trades, which allowed him to provide for his family never going without work long when his farming dream died. His skill set included concrete work, Maintenance at Wings Event Center, welding at Clarage Fan Company in Kalamazoo, and Indian Run Golf course among others.

He loved working with the soil, in his small greenhouse or our big gardens, he sold produce at the original Farmers Market in Vicksburg or our front yard. To help his vegetables he even became a beekeeper handling nearly 100 hives. He also worked at Prudential Nursery for some time before he opened a lawn care service.

Steve was proud of attending Pavilion School Number 4 School a one-room schoolhouse and a Vicksburg High School graduate. He volunteered as a firefighter for Greenfield Shores Station in Pavilion Township. Another surprise was that he had been a member of the Kalamazoo’s “Sing Out Kalamazoo” singing group. 

Steve is survived by his wife Donna, and children, Daniel (Wendi) Weinberg, and Hannah Tissue. He has four grandchildren Landon, Logan, Colton, and April Weinberg. Also surviving are sisters Shelley Peck, Susan, and Stacey Weinberg. He was predeceased by his parents. 

Steve has been cremated and per his wishes, there will be no public visitation or memorial service.
