Thomas Cloney Hastings, Sr.

Thomas Hastings Sr., age 86, of Portage passed away on May 28, 2018 surrounded by his family. Tom was born on July 13, 1931 to Aloysius and Margaret Hastings. Tom's family includes his four children: Timothy (who passed away at birth), Tom (Sharon) Hastings Jr. of Alabama, Maggie (Tim) Corbin of Tennessee, Ann (Tom) Hahn of Lowell, MI; two grandchildren: Molly and Hannah Blatt of South Carolina; one sister: Karen Hastings; cousin: Bruce (Joan) McPherson; close friend: Dick (Jean) Schmitt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy Hastings of 65 years who passed away this February. Tom ran the A&W Root Beer Stand on Kalamazoo Avenue for many years. He greatly appreciated all the young people who worked there. Tom valued those relationships and maintained many of them until his death. Tom was a very outgoing man who cared about others, had a great sense of humor and was a very good tennis player. He was devoted to his family who will deeply miss him.
