Ty "Ty Bob" Robert Flick, born on August 14, 1974, in Flint, Michigan, was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend whose spirit touched the lives of many. He passed on November 11, 2024, at the age of 50. Ty leaves behind a legacy of strength, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Ty was a graduate of Flushing High School, honored to be part of the Class of 1994. During his school years, he played on the football team, embodying the spirit of teamwork and resilience. He remained a passionate sports fan throughout his life, particularly cheering for the University of Michigan football team, sharing his love of the game with friends and family alike.
After high school, Ty proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1994-2003, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His military service took him to various corners of the world, including Iraq, Pakistan, Kuwait, Panama, and Cuba, where he demonstrated commitment and courage. Ty carried the values he learned during his time in the military into every aspect of his life, influencing his work ethic and the joy he found in caring for his family.
After his service, Ty transitioned into a successful career, spending nearly two decades at Adient, formerly known as Johnson Control. As the Director of Manufacturing Strategy, he was known for his tireless work and innovative ideas, always striving for excellence in everything he touched. His colleagues respected him not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his approachable personality and sense of humor.
A focal point of Ty’s life was his family, whom he loved. He celebrated his marriage to Christina Battstone on June 23, 2007, a bond that brought him immense pride and happiness. Together they created a beautiful family filled with laughter, cherished moments, and remarkable memories. Ty’s favorite times were spent gathered around the grill, where he showcased his skills during family gatherings, especially at Thanksgiving. He was celebrated for his “dad jokes,” which—while they sometimes created eye-rolls—were always delivered with humor, creating an atmosphere of love and light-heartedness.
Those who knew Ty best would describe him as strong-willed and hardworking, with a personality that could warm any room. His laughter, coupled with his generous spirit, made him a beloved figure among friends and family. Ty Bob's legacy will continue to thrive within the hearts of his cherished family and all who were lucky enough to experience his kindness and affection.
As we remember Ty, we hold onto the memories of his profound love, his indelible laughter, and the strength he inspired in each of us. He leaves behind a world that is a better place for having known him.
