VanDorn was born on Dec. 31, 1915, in West Unity, OH, the son of the late Lloyd and Mabel (Lyons) Bly. He worked for Swift & Company for 40 years in sales and management. He served his country honorably during WWII, as a member of the Coast Guard, where he was part of the K-9 Division. He belonged to the United Commercial Travelers for over 65 years, and was a member of the Portage Eagles #3560. He was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed taking his family on long camping trips during the summer. On June 15, 1940, he married the love of his life, Pearl, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Maurice, and Lewis Bly. He is survived by two sons, Randall Bly, and Barry (Angel) Bly. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and he will be buried next to his wife at the Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity, OH.
