July 3, 1920 — December 29, 2015

Virginia Louise Covill

Passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 29, 2015. Born on July 3, 1920 to Claude and Nina Coriell of Battle Creek, Michigan, Virginia ("Ginny") went to be with the Lord at the wondrous age of 95. Virginia worked as a secretary at Kellogg's, Borgess Hospital, and the Kalamazoo Civic Theater, and in sales at Herp's and Jacobson's before her retirement in the late 1980s. She was also a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed traveling, exploring, shopping, and spending time with her nine children, sixteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. If offered any last minute adventure, she could pack a suitcase within 30 minutes. Her advice to her children was always, "Don't worry, be safe, and have LOTS of fun." She was very fun-loving and loved to be surrounded by her family. Virginia was always the "Grand Matriarch" of the family, providing mama bear protection of her cubs, as well exemplifying grace and style. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Donald Hendrixson, Wendell ("Bob") Lind, and Robert A. Covill, her good friend and companion, Fred Gonyer, and six of seven siblings, namely Richard Coriell, William Coriell, Barbara (Coriell) Curran, Beverly (Coriell) Gebert, Robert Coriell, and Ralph Coriell. She is survived by her sister, Janet (Coriell) Blanford, and all nine of her children, Mary (Rich) Fererri, Elizabeth Hendrixson, Donna (Cam) Nichols, Karen Glucksberg, Cristina Duncheskie, Jennifer (Ron) Lind, Robert Lind, Norene Lind, and Ailene (John) Buchtrup. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, Gia Mastronuzzi; Andrew and Nicholas Ferreri; Andee Sampley; Matt and Kate Nichols; Ari and Mordecai Glucksberg; Erin and Adrienne Buchtrup; Kelly Duncheskie; Jenna Hunter; and Dean, Brooke, Kendall, and Mia Lind. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, Daniel and Ashley Mastronuzzi; Meghan, Ryan, and Andrew Fererri; Jacob, Jacqueline, and Garrett Fererri; Annastasia, Ben, Malachi, and Gabriella Sampley; and Eleanor Nichols. Family will begin receiving guests at 10:30am, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 8, 2015, at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 7211 Oakland Drive, Portage, Michigan. Lunch will follow at the church. Flowers may be sent to the church on Thursday afternoon.
