Baker, Wanda Gayle (Bishop) 4/12/1948 - 4/26/2020 Gayle Baker, of Fulton passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 in Portage, MI. She was born April 12, 1948 in Milledgeville, TN the second of seven children born to the late Paulus Bishop and Louise (Comer) Bishop and was raised in Parchment, MI. Gayle married the love of her life Jim Baker on July 13, 1970 and raised their family in Mattawan, MI and, since 1980, Fulton, MI. She is predeceased by Jim, her parents and her sister Kay.
She is survived by two brothers, Neal and Jeff, three sisters, Ann, Theresa, and Cindy; 5 children: Mike (Jane) Holewa, Cheryl Campbell, Tim (Daphne) Baker, Cindy (Brad) Hunter, and Zach Baker; 12 grandchildren: Kaitlynn (Josh), Denali, Randee, T.J., Krystal, Jonathan (Amanda), Brittanie (Todd), Rhyan (Franchesca), Ben, Sophie, Violet, and Addison; and 7 great-grandchildren: Olsen, Roxie, Jayce, Kalub, Julianna, Lexi, and Becca. She will also be deeply missed by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends, and especially by her loving dog Prissy.
Gayle loved visiting South Haven with Jim and writing their names in the sand, visiting Michigan lighthouses, and making numerous trips to Tennessee and North Carolina to visit family. She was a long-time member of Fulton Christian Church, and helped with the youth group. She had a loving passion for children, and held many positions through the years where she could help, nurture and otherwise "love on" any children she could. Her door and home cooking were always open to all. She was a beloved resident of Bickford Senior Living for the last 3 years and was known to give loving eulogies for all memorial services she attended there. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11am, Fulton Christian Church, 14108 East W Avenue, Fulton, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Fulton Christian Church.
