Wayne was set up on a blind date by a friend. His date’s name was Maria and at the end of the night, Wayne told Maria that he was getting back together with his ex-girlfriend, and he wouldn’t be calling her. However, a week later he called and asked her out on a second date. They were married on June 1, 1982, and have been together since.
Wayne was a little league coach and enjoyed all sports. He was an avid bowler, and he loved all music. Maria had a flower garden and Wayne would care for it when she wasn’t able to. He encouraged and supported all youth sports.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maria; his children: Jon (Crystal) Horton, Gary (Sindi Rios) Horton, Wayne (Amanda Morand) Watts; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters: Patricia (Jim) Ferguson and Deloris Watts as well as several nieces and nephews.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother Doris Watts, his father Carl Watts and his brother Douglas Watts.
Wayne’s children best sum up their father with a line from a Brad Paisley song,
“And looking back, all I can say about all the things he did for me
Is, I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be”.
