Wilber D. Breseman, age 68, of Marcellus, MI passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 22, 2016.
He was born August 14, 1947 in Dowagiac, MI the son of Dale F. and Beverly (Shannon) Breseman. On December 4, 1971 in Marcellus, he married Deborah Kay Carlton who survives.
Wilber graduated from Marcellus High School in 1965. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during Vietnam and was a life member of the Marcellus V.F.W. Post 4054. Wilber was a retired farmer and spent countless hours serving the Marcellus community and communities abroad. He was the Founder and Curator for the Marcellus V.F.W. Museum for the last 20 years, Drill Team Drill Sergeant, Rotarian, past Master for Masons, volunteer for the Marcellus Schools and was an active member of Wakelee United Methodist Church. Wilber also volunteered for Alliance for Smiles as part of the surgical team where he participated in missions to many third world countries. In 2010 he was honored as volunteer of the year.
Surviving besides his wife Debbie are two daughters, Heather (Jason) Shenfeld and Joyce (Jeff) Tone both of Marcellus; one son Chad (Kristy) Breseman also of Marcellus; one sister, Patty Cisneros(Greg Welburn) of Lawton, MI ; two brothers, Frank (Marie) Breseman and Mike Breseman both of Marcellus; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Ellie and Abby Tone, A.J. & Alex Shenfeld and Coltyn & Callen Breseman.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor John Messner officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcellus Cemetery.
